Designing + Planning for a Bathroom Renovation
It's bitter-sweet to say, but I'm preparing for a bathroom renovation.
Bitter-sweet because I love my current bathroom. It's not nearly perfect and it's lacking major storage, but it's original to the home and has been the only space I've unleashed pink in. Sure, it puts a smile on my face, but in the long-run, it's had its fair share of mini-renos and now it's time to face the music and bring it up to date with the rest of the house.A lot of the tiles are cracked and split, the window in the shower is framed in wood (so yes, imagine water spraying onto wood for decades), and storage is still a mega issue. We have a tiny medicine cabinet and one small unit above the toilet that only offers enough storage for items smaller than a can of hairspray. Our towels, TP, makeup, and almost every product we use when in the bathroom, is stored outside of our bathroom—and that sucks.So in the next few months, wish us luck as we undergo a bathroom renovation. Unlike our DIY kitchen reno, I want to hire the contracting of this project out. I will do the design and be the project manager, but there are so many considerations with this space (plumbing, electrical, heated floors, structural), that I want done professionally. I will do the demo and source all the fixtures and finishes to save money, but leave the construction to a pro.So, without further ado, let's chat about the overall design vision!
