For Maximum Success, Feel Free to Change

I've reincarnated a lot in my life.

I've tried various blog pseudonyms, I've branded countless offshoots of my businesses, and I've rewritten the same sentence countless times to find a more pleasing format.

And every time I've explored new territory, I've found improvement.

The other day I was reading an article that stated: "For maximum success, feel free to change goals." And I found it startlingly freeing. Yet for far too long, we've feared that reality as a society.

I started my career in a world where not having a business plan was a suicide mission, but I've always found pivoting to be beneficial for me. It's unnerving at times, but discomfort has only ever brought growth in one way, shape or another, and it's refreshing to see major platforms finally endorsing change—not just as a personal tool for growth, but as a means to find success.

Even when it’s for the better, however, change can be uncomfortable and confronting.

As you break down walls and chip away at old patterns and ways of doing things, you might feel a little out of your own skin and wish to abandon parts of yourself.

But remember: you are all of the people you’ve been. Your past selves are not to be tossed aside, but incorporated into how you want to be moving forward. Change doesn't have to force out the old, it can embrace it. After all, that life got you here.

The truth is I am many ways at many different times. I can pivot and shape-shift and adapt. And so can you! The only times I ever feel insecure are the times I falsely believe that I am simply one way—when I forget that I carry this big metaphorical bag of knowledge and skills and experience and interests that I continually add to. And each time I morph to grow, I have to remind myself to make room for myself, rather than squeeze out or replace older operating systems, so to speak.

We have the capacity to show up however we want, whenever we want. You can create and turn on whatever version of you that you need today. And then again tomorrow. And the next day.
